Hammond Law Group will be observing National First Responders Month in September 2019 by offering free estate planning documents to first responders in Colorado for the entire month of September. Community Strong, LLC, the nonprofit established by Hammond Law Group’s founder Catherine Hammond, is providing the funding for the Damian Merrill First Responders Program.
Supporting our First Responders through The Damian Merrill First Responders Program
The Damian Merrill First Responders Program was named after Damian Merrill, a first responder and United States Airman who proudly served our country and community. After a battle with cancer, Damian passed away leaving behind his wife Michelle, and their two children in late July. Before his passing, Damian made it a priority to make sure his affairs were in order. Hammond Law Group is honored and humbled by his sacrifice and the legacy he left behind.
First responders continuously show heart and courage every day while serving our community. They put their lives in danger and truly need planning in place as a safety net for their own loved ones. “With Damian’s passing, we are reminded of the importance of creating these essential documents for our first responders who protect our loved ones every day,” says Catherine Hammond, founder of Hammond Law Group.
Hammond Law Group wants to thank all our first responders and ensure that every one of them has the essential legal documents in place to help protect their families.
Free estate planning documents for first responders include:
- Financial Power of Attorney,
- Living Will,
- Healthcare Power of Attorney, and
- Universal HIPAA Release.
First responders and their families are also strongly encouraged to attend one of Hammond Law Groups educational workshops during the month of September. The workshop outlines why each of these documents is important in the context of a proper estate plan by using a fictional couple to demonstrate the concepts. How to get Your Free Estate Planning Documents as a First Responder
In order to receive your free documents as a thank you for your service, first responders and their spouses are encouraged to call or email Hammond Law Group in the month of September to start the process. The first step is to set up a 15 minute phone call with one of our attorneys. After the phone call, we will draft the documents. The last step will be to come into our office to sign your documents and take them home with you.
