Workshop -Having The Conversation: Life Care Planning For Caregivers

Thursday, July 21st -4pm- Colorado Springs, CO, An exclusive workshop on caregiver support for our LPP Members, successor trustees and guests.

A successful Life Care Plan doesn’t only include the ones who need care but the loved ones who care for them as well. The gift you give as a caregiver is indescribable but can come at the expense of your own care and well-being.

How are YOU doing, caregiver?

Are you taking care of yourself as you take care of others?

If you are a caregiver for aging parents, a loved one with cognitive decline or other chronic illness, there is no doubt you’ve come up against tough conversations and possibly even burn out. Having real conversations as a caregiver about the need for support, how to find that support and who you are in the Life Care Plan with aging loved ones can be difficult to say the least but are vital to your well-being.

What type of caregiver are you and how can you thrive in that role?

How do you find support and resources as a caregiver?

How do you make sure you are getting the right care, at the right time, for the right price, not only for your loved one but also for yourself?

The new Elder Care Coordinator and Life Care Planning team at Hammond Law Group are here for you to find resources and learn how to have those tricky conversations around caregiving.

We are excited to announce that Paula Levy, original founder of Day Break -An Adult Day Program in Woodland Park, CO and Caregiver Consultant, will join us as guest speaker to provide support to you as a caregiver.

Meet Our Guest Speaker -Paula Levy, Caregiver Consultant at Never Alone Consulting

I’m Paula Levy and I have a deep passion for elder care. I’ve spent the past 30 years of my life working to make a difference in the lives of people living with dementia and Alzheimer’s along with assisting their beloved family members with their arduous caregiving journey.

I am a graduate from Pepperdine University where I earned my B.S. in Leisure Science/Recreation with an emphasis in Geriatrics. I’ve also earned both the Trainer and Consultant certifications from Teepa Snow’s Positive Approach to Care and I complete the extensive recertification process on an annual basis.

I am Founder & Executive Director of DayBreak, the first and only program to provide adult day services to Teller County, Colorado residents. I have also worked as an Activities Therapist and a Nursing Home Administrator at Namaste Alzheimer Center in Colorado Springs. At Namaste, I developed, implemented, and managed the Adult Day Program at both the primary facility and a satellite branch.

Since 1999, I have volunteered as a facilitator of the Alzheimer’s Association’s Caregiver Support Groups in the Teller County area. I’ve been honored to receive the Volunteer of the Year award in 2012. In 2019, I was also awarded the Joe Henjum Senior Accolades Legacy Award: Business Professional by the Senior Resource Council.

Through my years of working with our elders and their tireless caregivers, I’ve learned the deep value of quality caregiver support. I’m here to help elder caregivers get the support & stability they need, have the confidence to make the best choices for their loved one, and live more enjoyable lives.
